Serhii A. Chekan

Sergeant Serhii Chekan was killed on November 27, 2022, while carrying out a combat mission in the Donetsk region. Enemy artillery fire cut short the life of the 26-year-old warrior near the village of Pervomaiske. Serhii was born in the village of Antonivka, Rivne region. He studied at the local lyceum. Later, he graduated from the Zdolbuniv Railway College and the Chernivtsi Railway Technical School. After getting married, he moved to the city of Zdolbuniv, Rivne region. He worked as a brigade leader in the car depot. During the full-scale war, the man was called up for service in the Armed Forces of Ukraine, military unit A2984. "Serhiiko was my mother's hope and comfort. Honest, cheerful, good-natured, and very fair. He loved to learn, loved life, and was a very positive guy," said Vira Nabukhotna. The serviceman was buried in his native village in the Rivne region. Serhii is survived by his parents, sister, wife, and daughter.
