- Sergeant Serhii Dovhaliuk (call sign was killed) was killed on March 9, 2023 in battle near the settlement of Ocheretyne in the Donetsk region. While carrying out a combat mission, he came under enemy fire and received fatal injuries and blast trauma. The defender was 51 years old. Serhii was born in the village of Nova Hreblia, Vinnytsia region. In 1987, he graduated from a secondary school in the village of Stara Pryluka. Later, he enrolled in the Novohrebelske Vocational School, where he mastered the profession of tractor driver. He served his mandatory military service. Subsequently, he lived and worked in Vinnytsia. On February 24, 2022, the man without hesitation decided to defend Ukraine from the enemy. He went to the military enlistment office, telling his relatives: "I will go, I cannot do otherwise. Who will defend?" Later, he joined the ranks of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He served in the 456th Transport Aviation Brigade named after Dmytro Maiboroda, holding the position of a machine gunner. Comrades-in-arms remember him as a courageous, highly skilled, persistent, purposeful, and hardworking warrior. Serhii constantly honed his shooting skills, read extensively, and studied military tactics. Together with his comrades, they often trained. Later, Serhii's unit was attached to the 35th Separate Marine Brigade. That's how the soldiers ended up in the Donetsk region. The hero was buried in the village of Stara Pryluka in his native Vinnytsia region. Serhii is survived by a sister, a daughter, other relatives, friends, and comrades-in-arms. Posthumously, Sergeant Serhii Dovhaliuk was awarded the Order of Courage of the III degree.Memory Platform 'Memorial'
