Serhii A. Horodov (Fizruk)

Soldier Serhii Horodov (call sign Fizruk) was killed on January 27, 2023 near the village of Stupochky in the Donetsk region. During the performance of a combat mission, he received fatal injuries as a result of enemy mortar and artillery shelling. The warrior was 32 years old. Serhii was born and lived in Kharkiv. He studied at the Faculty of History of H. S. Skovoroda Kharkiv National Pedagogical University. He was engaged in his favorite business - teaching children at school for 11 years, received the award "Teacher of the Year-2020". He worked at Kharkiv Specialized School of I-III Degrees with in-depth study of certain subjects No. 16 named after V. H. Serhieiev and at Boiko's author's school. On the second day of the full-scale war, on February 25, 2022, the man volunteered for the war. He joined the ranks of the 113th separate brigade of the territorial defense of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He served in the reconnaissance platoon of the 123rd battalion. He defended his native Kharkiv region, and later the Donetsk region. "Students and the entire teaching staff respected, valued and sincerely loved Serhii Anatoliiovych. After all, he was a true teacher from God. Serhii will remain in our memory as a sincere, open, cheerful person. He had many plans in life, he loved his relatives, close ones, friends and his native land deeply... The sad news of Serhii's death echoed with unspeakable pain and longing in the hearts of all who knew and loved him, for whom he was a friend, comrade, classmate, student, teacher, brother in arms," the H. S. Skovoroda Kharkiv National Pedagogical University said. "Serhii was young, sincere, cheerful, always ready to help, he was a person of a big soul and an open heart... We have lost a worthy person, a professional teacher, a great patriot, who is a true example for all of us," said the deceased's girlfriend Anna Lavoshnyk. The defender was buried on the Alley of Glory of cemetery No. 18 in Kharkiv. Serhii is survived by his mother, beloved girlfriend, relatives, friends, and students.
