- Soldier Serhii Kovalenko (call sign Megavolt) was killed on May 9, 2023, defending the city of Bakhmut in the Donetsk region. The defender received a fatal shrapnel wound during an enemy bombardment of the positions. On May 25, the warrior would have turned 46 years old. Serhii was born in the city of Irshava, Zakarpattia region. He lived in Kyiv. He obtained the profession of electrical engineer at the National Technical University of Ukraine "Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute". He worked at the company "DTEK Kyiv Grids", holding the position of a category II technical audit engineer. With the start of the full-scale war, the man joined the capital's volunteers and stood in the defense of Kyiv. He served in the 112th separate brigade of the territorial defense of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He was a gunner of the anti-aircraft artillery section of the anti-aircraft missile and artillery platoon of the fire support company of the 252nd battalion. During his service, the soldier was awarded the following awards: the commemorative medal of the 112th brigade, the honorary award "Participant in Combat Operations", the medal "For Participation in the Battles of the Bakhmut Frontier", the medal of the Commander of the Territorial Defense Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine "For Faithful Service" of the III degree, and posthumously - the Order of Courage of the III degree. "For our family, this is the most painful loss. Serhii was and will forever remain a smiling and loving son, a beloved husband and the best dad in the world," said the wife of the fallen Svitlana. Serhii was buried at the Forest Cemetery in Kyiv. He is survived by his wife, daughter, relatives, friends and comrades-in-arms.Memory Platform 'Memorial'
