- Soldier Serhii Kucherenko was wounded and taken prisoner in the area of the settlement of Novotoshkivske in the Luhansk region. Later, during the exchange, the occupiers returned the body of the soldier with signs of torture. He died approximately on June 22, 2022. Serhii was born in the village of Birky, Kirovohrad region. He graduated from the Cherkasy Construction Lyceum, where he obtained the profession of painter-plasterer, tiler. In civilian life, he worked as a junior inspector in the Department of Supervision and Security in the State Penitentiary Service. In his free time, he practiced Thai boxing. He participated in the ATO in 2017-2018, and after being wounded, he was demobilized. On the first day of the full-scale war, on February 24, 2022, the man again took up the defense of Ukraine. He served in the ranks of the 57th Separate Motorized Infantry Brigade named after the Koshovy Otaman Kostya Hordiienko. He held the position of driver. Serhii's call sign was "NATO Threat". He was always brave and courageous, which is why he was one of the first to go during the full-scale invasion. He always said: "Who, if not me? I have to do this for my family." Very cheerful and good-natured. He was the kind of person with whom you feel protected. He was the kindest person, said his sister Kateryna. The defender was buried in his native village. Serhii left behind a wife, daughter, mother, five sisters, a nephew, and nieces. He saw his daughter only twice, at the time of his death she was a few months old.Memory Platform 'Memorial'
