Serhii A. Novosad (Said)

Military pilot Serhii Novosad (call sign Sait) was killed on October 20, 2023, while carrying out a combat mission in the Bakhmut direction. In September, the hero turned 42 years old. Serhii was born in the village of Ochkhamuri (Georgia). In 1999, he graduated from school and entered the Ivan Kozhedub Kharkiv National University of the Air Force. Since 2003, he has served in the military aviation. He held various flight positions. He has repeatedly participated in international peacekeeping and security operations in Liberia and the Congo. Since 2014, as part of the aviation group of the brigade, he has been carrying out combat missions in the ATO / JFO zone. When the full-scale war began, the officer was released to the reserve. At that time, he was working at the Aviation Support Center of the National Police of Ukraine. But after the invasion, Serhii returned to the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He held the position of helicopter commander of the helicopter squadron of the 16th separate brigade of army aviation "Brody". During his service, Lieutenant Colonel Serhii Novosad was awarded about 20 awards, in particular, in January 2023, he received the Order of Courage of the III degree. "A brave warrior, a faithful friend, the best father and husband. His choice was the sky, to which he was faithful to the end..." - said the officer's wife Erika. The military was buried in the central cemetery in the city of Brody, Lviv region. Serhii is survived by his parents, wife and son.
