Serhii A. Ramanov (Yar)

Senior Sergeant Serhii Ramanov (call sign Yar) was killed on April 13, 2022, while performing a combat mission near the village of Borove in the Kharkiv region. The warrior was 56 years old. Serhii was born in Kyiv. He obtained a law degree from the Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute. He ran his own business. In his free time, he played the guitar, painted, and wrote poetry. He loved to travel to the mountains and go skiing. With the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion, the man joined the defense of his homeland. He joined the 112th separate brigade of the territorial defense of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. "Serhii was a brave, sensitive person. A real man and warrior. He wrote that every drop of blood shed for one's own kind is sacred. Our ancestors bless the defense in any way," said the wife of the deceased. "When I called Serhii Ramanov in May 2022 to congratulate him on his birthday, the phone was turned off, and I wrote a greeting in a messenger. Then I did not know that Serhii was no longer among the living... A true patriot, an active participant in two Maidans, a decent person, a successful businessman, who from the first day of the full-scale invasion of the enemy stood up for his Motherland," wrote his friend Oleksandr Sokolyk. After the spring battles, Serhii was considered missing for a long time. Only in the fall was his body found and identified. And in October 2022, the defender was buried at the Berkovetsky cemetery in Kyiv. Serhii is survived by his wife Liudmyla and daughter Yuliia. Senior Sergeant Serhii Ramanov was posthumously awarded the Order of Courage of the III degree.
