- Soldier Serhiy Velykopolskyi (call sign Poliak) was killed on May 14, 2022, near the village of Pavlivka in the Zaporizhzhia region. The fighter sustained fatal injuries during enemy shelling. A week before this, on May 7, the defender turned 29 years old. Serhiy was from the city of Chervonohrad in the Lviv region. He stu at school No. 10. He then graduated from the Chervonohrad Professional Mining and Construction Lyceum. Since 2011, he worked as an electrical mechanic at the "Velykomostivska" mine. Later, he decided to defend Ukraine. In October 2021, the man signed a contract with the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He served in the 14th Separate Mechanized Brigade named after Prince Roman the Great. He was a gunner in a mechanized platoon. From the first days of the full-scale Russian invasion, he went with his comrades to defend Kyiv region, and later fought in other hot spots on the front line. "Serhiy was a good son, brother, caring husband, and loving father to his children David and Mia. Always cheerful, he loved to joke. When I asked how he was doing, he always reassured me and said, 'Mom, everything is fine, don't worry,'" Galina Velykopolskaya recounted. Serhiy was buried at the Alley of Glory in the Bendyuzske cemetery in the Lviv region. He is survived by his mother, brother, wife, son, daughter, grandmother, relatives, friends, and comrades.
