Serhii B. Lokatyr (Hutsul)

Sergeant Serhii Lokatar (call sign Hutsul) died on October 21, 2023 while carrying out a combat mission to liberate the left bank of Kherson. Near the village of Pishchanivka, he received fatal injuries during an enemy air strike. A month earlier, on September 27, the defender turned 39 years old. Serhii was born in the village of Svarichiv, Ivano-Frankivsk region. He had a secondary education. In civilian life, he was engaged in repair work. He was a professional and a skilled master of European-style renovations. On May 9, 2023, the man was drafted into the Ukrainian Navy. He joined the ranks of the 36th Separate Marine Brigade. He served in the grenade launcher section of the fire support platoon of the 1st Separate Battalion. "Serhii was the eldest in the family, so he was a support for his mother, who had lost her husband. After school, he immediately went to work. He did magnificent renovations both in Ukraine and abroad. He did not have his own family, but he loved his nephews very much. Pain. Sorrow in the family," his sister Mariana Savchyn said. The military was buried in his native village. Serhii is survived by his mother, two brothers, three sisters, nephews, close ones, friends and comrades-in-arms.
