Serhii D. Kamanin

Soldier Serhii Kamanin (call sign Kama) died on July 5, 2024, while performing a combat mission near the city of Starytsya in the Kharkiv region as a result of enemy mortar shelling. The defender is now forever 38 years old. Serhii was born in the village of Sklobiv, Zhytomyr region. He graduated from the Red Army Vocational and Technical School. He lived with his family in Zhytomyr, worked as a builder. He was an avid mushroom picker and fisherman. He was passionate about nature and technology. During the full-scale war, he held the position of a rangefinder in the anti-aircraft artillery division of the 39th Tactical Aviation Brigade. "He was the best, loving husband, dad and son. We got married in 2017. Together in love and harmony, we raised our son Artem. Wherever the man worked, he was always responsible, hardworking, and friendly. During his service, he also proved himself to be a conscientious soldier, a good and comradely fellow. From the first days of the full-scale invasion, he voluntarily took up the defense of the country, although he had the opportunity not to go because of his wife's health condition. However, he was a conscious citizen and patriot of Ukraine," said his wife Daria. During his service, soldier Serhii Kamanin was awarded the medals "For Wounds" and "War Veteran". Posthumously, he was awarded the Order of Courage of the III degree and the "Combatant's Cross" badge. The defender was buried on the Alley of Glory in Zhytomyr. At home, Serhii was awaited by his mother, wife, son, two brothers and three sisters.
