Serhii H. Hrynenko (Hrynia)

Senior Sergeant Serhii Hrynenko (call sign Hrynia) was killed in action against the occupiers near the village of Sorokivka in Kharkiv region on April 27, 2022. The defender was 32 years old. Serhii was born and lived in the village of Bliznyuky in Kharkiv region. He received his education and worked there. He was a skilled mechanic and a good driver. In his lifetime, he worked as an ambulance driver and a long-haul truck driver. His last place of employment was "Kharkivoblenergo". In 2015, the man began defending his homeland. He served in the 42nd battalion of the 57th separate motorized infantry brigade. In 1.5 years in ATO, he received the rank of senior sergeant, had awards and honors. Later, he returned to civilian life. On the first day of the full-scale war, February 24, 2022, Serhii was mobilized into the ranks of the 92nd separate mechanized brigade named after Koshovyi Otaman Ivan Sirko. Hrynia was killed in action during the first spring counteroffensive, liberating Kharkiv region. "Our son will proudly carry his father's surname and will continue his skills and achievements. Because the main thing that my husband did in his life is to become an example to follow: will cannot be broken or erased, justice will be fought for from generation to generation, because that is what we live for and what we are ready to give our lives for. So that our children grow up in a free, successful, and productive country," said the widow of the deceased, Yulia. Serhii was buried in his native village. At home, he was awaited by his parents, wife, and young son. Posthumously, the fighter was awarded the Order "For Courage" III degree.
