Serhii H. Kornetskyi

He grew up with his older sister Irina, who is 7 years his senior. His father left the family when the boy was one year old. Serhiy studied at the local secondary school No. 2, where he received a basic secondary education. In 1996, he enrolled in a training and production combine to gain the theoretical and practical knowledge necessary for working in the communal services. In 1991, his sister Irina moved permanently to the Russian Federation, while Serhiy stayed in Novodnistrovsk with their mother, Valentyna Ivanivna. After remarrying, their mother also moved from Novodnistrovsk to the Vinnytsia region. Serhiy worked as an energy technician in his hometown and visited her almost every week, helping with household chores. Unfortunately, the young man's personal life did not work out. Due to military events initiated by terrorists, he was mobilized into the Armed Forces of Ukraine in August 2015. He served in Donetsk region. On October 17, 2015, he suffered severe burns covering 70% of his body in an accident, which were incompatible with life. He died in a Kyiv hospital on November 22, 2015. On November 24, a farewell ceremony for the fallen hero took place at the Novodnistrovsk House of Culture. He was buried in the cemetery of the village of Vynogradne in the Muravonokurylivetsky district of the Vinnytsia region.
