Serhii I. Hyliuk (Bandyt)

Soldier Serhii Hyliuk (call sign Bandit) was killed on May 9, 2023, while carrying out a combat mission in the Bakhmut area in the Donetsk region. The defender came under enemy artillery fire and sustained fatal injuries. He was 38 years old. Serhii was born in the village of Moskalivka, Khmilnytskyi region. He lived in Bila Tserkva, Kyiv region. He had a secondary education. He worked at a furniture company. In his free time, he loved fishing and mushroom picking. During the full-scale Russian invasion, Serhii was mobilized into the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He served in the 72nd Separate Mechanized Brigade named after the Black Zaporozhians. He was a radio intelligence operator in a separate reconnaissance company. "He was loving, positive, joyful, and knew how to support and help everyone," said the wife of the fallen defender, Antonina. The defender was buried in the "Sukhyi Yar" cemetery in Bila Tserkva. At home, Serhii was awaited by his father, wife, and child.
