Serhii I. Pohar

29-year-old soldier Serhiy Pogar was killed in action on July 12, 2022, during the defense of Bakhmut in Donetsk region. He was a fighter of the 44th separate artillery brigade named after Hetman Danylo Apostol. Serhiy was born in the village of Cherneliv-Ruskyi, Ternopil region. From the first days of the full-scale invasion of Russian troops, he voluntarily joined the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. "He was only 29 years old. Kind, hardworking, caring and careful. Forever in our memory, Serhiy will remain a bright and sensitive person, a true Hero. We express our sincere condolences to the parents, relatives, friends and comrades-in-arms of the deceased. Eternal memory... Kingdom of Heaven...", wrote the head of the Bайkovetska community Anatoliy Kulyk. "We served together since March 2022. Serhiy was very kind, sensitive, always ready to go to the forefront. He loved Ukraine very much," said Serhiy's comrade-in-arms Mykola. "He loved life and built bold plans, was kind, caring and careful. In our memory, Serhiy will remain forever a bright and sensitive person, a true Hero," said Serhiy's comrades at his farewell. "Rest in peace, brother, may the earth be soft for you! We know you're in heaven, because you've already been to hell," wrote Oleh Drobot. The defender was buried in his native village in Ternopil region. Serhiy left behind his parents and brother. For personal courage and selfless actions demonstrated in the defense of state sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, loyalty to the military oath, soldier Serhiy Pogar was posthumously awarded the Order "For Courage" of the III degree.
