Serhii I. Stratan (Muskat)

Senior Lieutenant Serhii Stratan (call sign Muskat) was killed inn action on April 22, 2022, in the vicinity of Zarichne, Donetsk region. While carrying out a combat mission, he sustained a fatal explosive injury. The defender was 30 years old. Serhii was born in the village of Checheliivka, Kirovohrad region. In 2019, he graduated from the Military Academy in Odesa and joined the 79th Air Assault Brigade. He participated in the Anti-Terrorist Operation/Joint Forces Operation. In 2020, he enrolled in Mykolaiv National University named after V.O. Sukhomlynsky and earned a degree as a physical education teacher. In his free time, he loved fishing and relaxing with friends. During the full-scale war, Serhii served in the 79th Separate Air Assault Brigade. Since February 24, 2022, he defended the hot spots on the front line with his comrades. He was awarded numerous awards, including the "For Excellence in Military Service" medals of the 3rd and 2nd degrees and the Order of Bohdan Khmelnytsky of the 3rd degree (posthumously). "Serhii was a very good person. I have never met such a person in my life. He always wanted to help everyone, whether he knew them or not. He loved his family very much and cared for everyone. He was truly a Hero, as he had been defending his Homeland and family since 2014," shared his wife's sister, Kateryna. The officer was buried in the village of Ivanivka, Kirovohrad region. Serhii is survived by his wife, parents, sisters, and brothers.
