Serhii I. Tretiak (Modzhakhed, Madzhyk)

30-year-old soldier Serhii Tretiak (call sign Modjaheed, Magic) was killed on October 22, 2023 while carrying out a combat mission in the Sumy region. He sustained a fatal explosive injury when, together with a group, he was tracking the movement of enemy sabotage and reconnaissance groups. Serhii was born in Kyiv. He graduated from the Kyiv National Economic University named after Vadym Hetman with a degree in "Economic Cybernetics". He was an employee of the technical support department for the educational process at this university, and before the invasion, he worked in private security. He read a lot of literature, was interested in history, and wrote poems. He loved to cook, especially Georgian baked goods. He always helped people in various life situations. With the start of the full-scale war, on his birthday, February 24, 2022, the man took up the defense of his native capital. He was a volunteer of the DFTG No. 9. Later, he became a fighter of the consolidated unit of the 138th Center for Special Purposes (counteracting sabotage and terrorist acts) named after Prince Volodymyr Sviatoslavych as part of the military law enforcement service of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He fought in hot spots on the Donetsk, Zaporizhia and other directions along the front line. In the summer of 2023, he was awarded the honorary distinction "Golden Cross". "He was the soul for us, and became a guardian angel..." - wrote Alina Psheniuk. The hero was buried in the village of Mostishche, Kyiv region. At home, Serhii was awaited by his parents, relatives, close ones and friends.
