Serhii M. Avramenko (Vertold)

Soldier Serhii Avramenko (call sign Bertold) was killed on April 23, 2023, while performing a combat mission near the village of Bohdanivka in the Donetsk region. He was 41 years old. Serhii was born in Kyiv. He graduated with honors from the Kyiv State Academy of Water Transport. He worked as a motorist at the Kyiv River Port. Later, he became a sailor abroad. After getting married, he changed his occupation and got a job at a car dealership. He also worked as a transport manager at a TV channel. He loved cars and was passionate about metal detecting. He enjoyed reading and was interested in history and geography. He had many friends. He deeply loved his family. During the full-scale war, on June 18, 2022, the man joined the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He served in the 10th Separate Mountain Assault Brigade "Edelweiss." He held the position of a grenade launcher assistant. "Serhii was an honest and decent person who helped his friends. At work, he always defended the interests of ordinary drivers, not the boss. He could not stand lies. We miss him a lot," said the deceased's wife, Iryna. Serhii was buried at the Berkovets Cemetery in Kyiv. He is survived by his mother, wife, and two sons. The military man was posthumously awarded the Order of Courage of the III degree.
