Serhii M. Chaika

28-year-old combat medic Serhii Chaika was killed on January 3, 2023, while carrying out a combat mission in the city of Soledar, Donetsk region. Serhii was born in the village of Tsybulivka in the Odesa region. After finishing the 9th grade, he obtained the profession of a tractor driver. He lived in his native village with his wife and her child. He was engaged in farming. The family was planning to move to the city. The man decided to go to the front on February 26, 2022. His relatives tried to dissuade him, but in vain. Serhii served as part of the 61st Separate Mechanized Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He took part in battles in the Mykolaiv, Kherson and Donetsk regions. "He was a very good person. Even during the war, he continued to help people. In some village, there lived a grandfather and a grandmother, and they had no one. Serhii constantly drove to them, bought food, water, lanterns, charged their phones. And when he came home for a few days, he asked the guys who were left there to visit those people, to bring something. He was like that... He went to the store, sees an old woman paying, and pays for her. He treated the elderly very well. He helped everyone," said the sister of the fallen Anastasia. The hero was buried in his native village. Serhii is survived by his parents, wife and stepson.
