Serhii M. Kodeliak

Sergeant Serhii Kodelyak was killed on July 21, 2022 as a result of enemy mortar shelling while performing a combat mission in the area of the village of Potemkine in the Kherson region. The defender was 25 years old. Serhii was born in the village of Ulyanivka, Mykolaiv region. He graduated from the Mykolaiv National Agrarian University. Since 2018, he had been living in Lviv, where he came to work after the army. He married his beloved, who is from the Lviv region, and said that he had found himself a wife - a thoroughbred Ukrainian from Western Ukraine. During the full-scale Russian invasion, Serhii joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine to defend Ukraine. He fought in the ranks of the 212th separate rifle battalion. He was a gunner-machine gunner. "A loving father, husband, brother, he was a good person. He loved his family. When he went to war, he said that he had to fight so that the invaders would not come and do to us what they did in Bucha. He was a complete orphan from an early age. And he always said that he wants his son to have what he himself did not have. He said he was fighting for our future. On the day of his death, he called at noon: 'Everything is fine, take care of our son,' and in the evening he was killed. He always said: 'Wife, everything will be fine, believe in it and wait for me.' He promised to come to his son's birthday on October 2, but never came..." - said the wife of the fallen warrior. Serhii was buried in the cemetery in his native village next to his parents, as he had requested. At home, his wife Tetiana and son Denys were waiting for him.
