Serhii M. Kompaniiets (Deputat)

In June 2022, during battles near Izyum, 46-year-old Serhiy Kompaniyets (call sign Deputy) was killed. He was a true warrior, serving since 2014 in the 93rd brigade, defending Donetsk Airport. In his native Holubivka, Serhiy Kompaniyets was respected. Fellow villagers remember the serviceman as a hardworking, smiling, tireless, and always ready to help man. The defender's uncle says that Serhiy was good at farming and could do anything: mow the grass, plant potatoes, and weed the garden. "Serhiy was repeatedly told when he visited home: drop everything and return to peaceful life. He always replied: 'Who, if not me?'" - said the brother of the deceased Oleksandr Kompaniyets. Serhiy's teacher remembers how he gave his spare notebooks to his classmates the day before the test. He didn't even leave one for himself. He had to go and buy one. "I once enter the classroom - the board is dirty. I ask, who is on duty. They are silent. Then Serhiy stands up. 'Kompaniyets, are you on duty?' - 'No, not me. But nothing will happen to me if I wipe the board'," - recalls teacher Nelia Slavska. "Serhiy was a very good person. On the battlefield, he didn't leave his comrades. He evacuated both wounded comrades and the bodies of the dead. In the village, he was known as a kind and generous person, ready to share his last possessions," - said Serhiy's uncle Mykola. The deceased hero left behind his parents, brother, and 16-year-old son Oleksandr.
