Serhii M. Kotsupei

Soldier Serhii Kotsupei was killed on January 25, 2023 near the settlement of Krasna Hora in the Donetsk region. While performing his official duties, he sustained fatal injuries as a result of artillery shelling. The defender was 34 years old. Serhii was born in the village of Babyne, Khmilnytskyi region. In 2007, he graduated from the Babyne secondary school. He then served in the Armed Forces of Ukraine. After the army, he studied at the police school. Later, he served in the ranks of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for some time. After being discharged, he worked in a security agency. The man joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine on September 3, 2022. He served in the 77th separate airmobile brigade of the airmobile troops of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He held the position of senior gunner of the grenade launcher section of the fire support platoon of the airmobile company of the airmobile battalion. "My son was brave and honest. Life without a son is not life," said Halyna Kotsupei, the defender's mother. The paratrooper was buried in his native village. At home, his parents and brother were waiting for Serhii. Posthumously, Soldier Serhii Kotsupei was awarded the Order of Courage of the III degree.
