- Junior Sergeant Serhii Melnychuk (call sign Mykhalych) was killed on August 2, 2023 in the area of the village of Orlіanka in the Kharkiv region. During the performance of a combat mission, he came under enemy fire. The warrior was 40 years old. Serhii was born in the village of Kolmiv, Volyn region. He received secondary education. He worked as a minibus driver in Lviv, and was also a long-distance driver. In 2020, he bought a house and moved with his family to the city of Horokhiv, Volyn region. On February 25, 2022, the man was mobilized into the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He served in the 14th separate mechanized brigade named after Prince Roman the Great. He held the position of senior sergeant of the company - commander of the machine gun platoon. "From the first days of the war, Serhii voluntarily went to defend the Motherland. He was wounded and concussed twice, but he kept returning to his comrades-in-arms. They, as they told us, highly respected the senior sergeant of the company, because he was fair, always protected the soldiers in any situation. And they were behind him all the way! In the last phone conversation, Serhii said to his wife: 'Forgive me if something was wrong. Pray to God, because I'm going to save the 300s.' Forever in our hearts," said the deceased's niece Tetiana Melnychuk. "Courageous, strong, kind and always ready to help. Serhii was a good friend, a reliable comrade-in-arms, a wonderful son, brother, husband, father for his children and a wonderful person," said the Horokhiv community. The warrior was buried in the city of Horokhiv, Volyn. Serhii is survived by his wife Rymma, children Mykhailo and Daryna, other relatives, friends and comrades-in-arms.Memory Platform 'Memorial'
