- Sergeant Serhii Pysarenko (call sign Poltava) died on October 18, 2023, at the Lviv hospital from a mine-explosive injury sustained while performing his duties in the Kostiantynivka area of Donetsk region. The military man was 51 years old. Serhii was from Poltava. He graduated from the Poltava Meat Industry Technical School. In civilian life, he worked abroad as a long-haul driver. In his free time, he loved fishing. At the beginning of the full-scale invasion, the man left his job abroad and returned to Ukraine, where he voluntarily joined the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He served in the machine gun platoon of the 5th separate assault brigade. During his service, he was awarded the medal "For Military Service to Ukraine". "He was the best man, father and grandfather. From the first days of the full-scale invasion, he returned to Ukraine. Despite invitations from foreign colleagues to live and work in another country, he decided to defend the Motherland. He joined the territorial defense of the Poltava region, and at the beginning of the summer of 2022, he went as a volunteer to the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He fought in the Donetsk direction. In March 2023, he was seriously wounded. He underwent a long treatment, underwent about 40 operations and amputation of the lower limb. Despite this, he was waiting for prosthetics in order to return to the ranks and continue to defend Ukraine. But, unfortunately, despite the titanic efforts of the doctors and a great desire to live, on October 18, 2023, his heart stopped. For me, the children and the grandson, he will forever remain a hero, a true patriot, a loving husband, father and grandfather," said the widow of the fallen Natalia Pysarenko. Serhii was buried at the Memorial of Heroes of Memory in his hometown. The defender left behind a wife, two children and a grandson.Memory Platform 'Memorial'
