- Soldier Serhii Sakhniuk (call sign Stropa) died on February 4, 2024 in a hospital in the city of Samar, Dnipropetrovsk region, from wounds received during the performance of a combat mission. Then the group came under the attack of an enemy drone near the city of Chasiv Yar in Donetsk region. The defender was 55 years old. The warrior was born in the city of Slavuta, Khmilnytskyi region. After finishing school, he served in the army, and later obtained a secondary specialized education. He worked in construction in Poland. After the start of the full-scale war, he immediately returned to Ukraine, as he had a desire to defend the Motherland. While waiting for mobilization, he got a job as an electrician at the Kyiv Regional Clinical Hospital. He lived with his family in the capital. He defended the country as part of the 33rd Separate Mechanized Brigade. He held the position of a rifleman-medic in the rifle company. "The man was a calm and balanced person. He knew how to forgive and respect the people around him. He loved animals very much. He valued friendship. He dreamed of finishing the construction of his own house, but, unfortunately, did not have time. For him, Ukraine and Ukrainians were the highest priority. He believed in his country and dreamed of its prosperity. He adored tinkering. In his free time, he loved to go fishing," said his wife Olena. The defender was buried in his hometown. Serhii is survived by his mother Valentyna, wife Olena, son Andrii, and daughter Yuliia. The warrior was posthumously awarded the title of "Honorary Citizen of the City of Slavuta".Memory Platform 'Memorial'
