Serhii M. Sakun (Sieryi)

Sergeant Serhii Sakun (call sign Sieryi) was killed on March 21, 2023 near the city of Mariinka in the Donetsk region. He sustained a fatal injury while carrying out a combat mission. The defender was 30 years old. Serhii was from the village of Hlynivtsi in the Zhytomyr region. He had a secondary education. For about 10 years, he worked as an electric gas welder at LLC "Ukrstal Zhytomyr". He was passionate about football and participated in various championships. On November 2, 2022, the man was mobilized into the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He served in the 95th Separate Airborne Assault Brigade. He held the position of a grenade launcher. "My brother was a courageous warrior who defended Ukraine and heroically was killed in battle for it. He loved his family very much, especially his son Myron," said the deceased's sister Alona Marusych. The paratrooper was buried in his native village. At home, he was awaited by his mother, two sisters, his civil wife, and his son.
