Serhii M. Yanush

Soldier Serhii Ianush died on August 18, 2024 near the village of Ternі in the Donetsk region. The defender was blown up by an enemy mine while accompanying his comrades to a combat position. He was forever 49 years old. Serhii lived in the village of Novoraisk in the Kherson region. He studied at the Kherson Agrarian College. In peacetime, he worked as an agronomist - he adored his work and was a good specialist. In his free time, he played the guitar and sang songs about Ukraine. He even composed poems on the front line. In February 2024, the man was drafted into the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He held the position of a serviceman in the mechanized unit of the 60th Separate Mechanized Ingulska Brigade. "Serhii loved his native land so much that he treated every plant with love. He couldn't even rest peacefully, worrying: would it rain, or would the sun shine to successfully harvest the crop and for each seed to grow according to the temperature. He was also a talented person with a great philosophical soul, a true patriot, a wonderful father, son, husband, friend, brother, and uncle. Without any hesitation, he went to defend us, to defend the state. For his loved ones and acquaintances, he will always be a hero. I think that even from heaven he does not stop watching over his loved ones and native fields, protecting them from the 'bad weather'," wrote his niece Anna. "I ask everyone who knew Serhii, who has just learned about his story by reading this: thank him for a piece of bread, for wheat ears, for the oil on your table and for the sunflower that sweetly turns its head to the sun. Perhaps some part of the kindness and dedication to his work of my dear uncle touched your family table as well." The warrior was buried in Novoraisk. He left behind a wife, two sons, close relatives, friends, and comrades.
