Serhii M. Zarubenko

Soldier Serhii Zarubenkopassedaway on March 23, 2023 near the village of Minkivka in the Donetsk region. The defender suffered a fatal explosive injury during military operations. The warrior was forever 43 years old. Serhii was born in the village of Yemilchyne, Zhytomyr region. He studied at Yemilchynska School No. 1. In civilian life, he worked in construction. He was passionate about fishing and hunting. In April 2021, the man signed a contract with the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He served in the ranks of the 30th Separate Mechanized Brigade named after Prince Kostiantyn Ostrozkyi. He was a mechanic-driver of the anti-aircraft missile platoon of the anti-aircraft missile battery of the anti-aircraft missile and artillery division. He participated in the Joint Forces Operation. With the start of the full-scale war, together with his comrades-in-arms, he continued to defend Ukraine from the invaders. "He loved his children very much, always came home with treats and hugs. We were always waiting for when he would come to finally see him. Later he decided to join the Armed Forces of Ukraine for the sake of his children's future. He was very kind and sincere. He was always able to help... Every day reminds us of you, we still don't believe this happened. For us, you are still alive in our memory and memories of you, a cheerful, loving, courageous and heroic father and husband. You were always able to help everyone. The soul aches at the thought that you are gone. Every morning before work we talked with you, and now you pick up the phone, but 'the subscriber cannot take the call'. We miss you very much. Now you are our guardian angel. You are a true Hero of Ukraine. We will always remember you. May the Heavenly Kingdom rest, eternal and bright memory. Heroes never die. They wear the title of Angels," wrote the deceased's daughter Alona Mykulska. The warrior was buried in the central cemetery of his native village. Serhii is survived by his mother, wife and three children. Posthumously, the military was awarded the Order of Courage III degree, as well as the award "For Merits to the Zviahelskyi District".
