Serhii O. Antonenko (Kep)

Captain Serhiy Antonenko (call sign Kep) was killed in action on July 19, 2022, during the performance of a combat mission near the village of Norshivka in the Kharkiv region. The officer was 34 years old. Serhiy was born in the city of Dniprodzerzhynsk (now Kamianske) in the Dnipropetrovsk region. He graduated from the Yaroslav Mudryi National Law University in Kharkiv. He worked as a prosecutor and was a captain of justice. He defended his thesis, but never had time to start working as a lawyer. For three years he fought in the ATO, had the call sign Prosecutor. He received injuries, then returned to peaceful life. During the full-scale Russian invasion, the man joined the 40th separate rifle battalion "Kodak". He commanded the unit, together with comrades, performed combat missions on the front line. "From the beginning of the full-scale invasion, my brother was eager to go to the front, because he always said: 'Who, if not us?' He always believed in our victory! To the message: 'How are you?', he always had: 'Everything is fine.' But it was never good there, it was hell... Hell, where our people are dying, the best are dying," said the deceased's sister Anna. The officer was buried in the cemetery of Heroes of the ATO in his native Kamianske. Serhiy left behind his parents, sister and niece. Posthumously, Captain Serhiy Antonenko was awarded the Order "For Courage" III degree.
