Serhii O. Blokhin (Bern)

Soldier Serhii Blokhin (call sign Bern) was killed on December 28, 2023 near the city of Avdiivka in the Donetsk region. While carrying out a combat mission, he received fatal injuries during enemy mortar shelling. The defender was 31 years old. Serhii was born in the city of Hlukhiv, Sumy region. He graduated from the Hlukhiv College of Sumy National Agrarian University with a specialty in "Installation, maintenance and repair of electrical installations in the agro-industrial complex" and received the qualification of an electrical technician. He also mastered the profession of an electric gas welder at the Hlukhiv Vocational Lyceum. Before the invasion, he worked at the Universam Kyiv shopping center. During the full-scale war, the man became a soldier of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He fought in the ranks of the 116th Separate Mechanized Brigade. He was the commander of a combat vehicle. "My son is an honest, decent and hardworking person. He always supported me and his sister. He is our pride. We have always been proud of his achievements at work," said Svitlana Masliuk. The military was buried at the Veryhinskyi cemetery in his hometown. Serhii is survived by his mother, sister and grandmother.
