Senior Soldier Serhii But was killed on September 19, 2022 during the liberation of Lyman in the Donetsk region. The warrior was 24 years old. Serhii was born in the city of Izium, Kharkiv region. He graduated from the Chuhuiv-Babchansk Forestry College. He worked at an elevator in the city of Borova, Kharkiv region. Later, he went to serve in the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Since 2021, he has been carrying out combat missions in the area of the Joint Forces Operation in Donbas. During the full-scale invasion, Serhii fought for Ukraine in the ranks of the 81st Separate Airmobile Brigade of the Air Assault Troops of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. In May 2022, Senior Soldier Serhii But was awarded the Order of Courage of the III degree. "My brother was incredibly brave and courageous. From the very beginning of the full-scale invasion, he was in the hottest positions, repelling the attacks of the enemy. In April 2022, he received a shrapnel wound in the back, but after rehabilitation he went to defend our land in the Donetsk region. I always called him my 'ginger sun', because he was the brightest and most positive person in this world. He constantly said that everything would be fine, despite the conditions and places he was in. He was and remains an example for me," said the deceased's younger sister Albina. The defender was buried in the city of Borova, Kharkiv region. Serhii is survived by his mother, sister, relatives and friends.
