Serhii O. Hlushanets

Senior Lieutenant Serhiy Hlushanets was killed on June 9, 2022, in a battle with Russian occupiers near the village of Orihove in Luhansk Oblast. The officer was 39 years old. Serhiy was born in the village of Vereshchytsia, Lviv Oblast. In his childhood, he moved with his family to the city of Slavuta in Khmelnytskyi Oblast. There he finished the local school No. 5. He stuwas killed at the Classical Private University, majoring in "Production of Electronic Means" and received the profession of a radio engineer-designer-technologist. Since 2016, he worked as an engineer-programmer at the Slavuta Center for Primary Medical and Sanitary Care. From the first days of the full-scale war, Serhiy joined the ranks of the 24th Separate Mechanized Brigade named after King Danylo. He was the commander of the platoon. Together with his comrades, the man went to the forefront to defend Ukraine from Russian occupiers. "Serhiy was a wonderful person - smart, kind, sensitive. He always helped those who needed it. With the beginning of the war, without hesitation, he stood up to defend the city, was a commander in the guard company. And in May, he went to the frontline. He always said: who, if not us? I will remember him smiling, I love and remember," said his wife, Marina. "Friend, eternal memory to you! You were a good friend and a good person. You will forever remain in the memory of people who knew you," wrote his friend, Maksym Druzhylyuk. The defender was buried in the city of Slavuta. Serhiy left behind his parents, sister, wife, and son.
