Serhii O. Mesecha

Born on June 12, 1983, in the village of Zhuky, Kobelyatsky District, Poltava Region. In 2000, he graduated from the general education school in the urban-type settlement of Bilyky, Kobelyatsky District, then from vocational school No. 43 in the city of Kobelyaky, Poltava Region (now the State Vocational and Technical Educational Institution "Professional Agrarian Lyceum" in the city of Kobelyaky) with a specialty in "driver of motor vehicles." He worked as a locksmith at the Kobelyaky sugar factory in the urban-type settlement of Bilyky, Kobelyatsky District, and as an auto locksmith at a car service station in the city of Poltava. On June 16, 2015, he was mobilized into the Armed Forces of Ukraine by the Kobelyatsky District Military Commissariat of Poltava Region. He underwent training at the 169th Training Center of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (military unit A0665, urban-type settlement of Desna, Kozelets District, Chernihiv Region). He served as a mechanic-driver of an infantry fighting vehicle (IFV) in the 53rd Separate Mechanized Brigade of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (military unit V0927, cities of Sievierodonetsk/Lysychansk, Luhansk Region). Since 2015, he participated in the anti-terrorist operation in eastern Ukraine. On July 12, 2016, in the area of the urban-type settlement of Zaitseve, Bakhmut District, Donetsk Region, during a mortar shelling of Ukrainian military positions, an enemy shell hit the dugout where soldier Mesecha and several other servicemen were located. As a result of the explosion, Serhiy Mesecha sustained serious injuries and died on the spot. On July 15, 2016, he was buried in the cemetery of the village of Zhuky, Kobelyatsky District, Poltava Region.
