Serhii O. Polovko (Karat)

Soldier Serhii Polovko (call sign Karat) was killed on June 12, 2023, in the Bakhmut direction of Donetsk region. The warrior's life was cut short during the assault in the area of the village of Yakovlivka. The defender did not live to see his 34th birthday. Serhii was a native and resident of Ichnia, Chernihiv region. He graduated from the Ichnianskyi Vocational Agricultural Lyceum, and obtained the profession of a manager's secretary (organization, enterprise, institution). He loved to repair chainsaws and brush cutters. In peacetime, he worked at the STOV "Sidko Ukraine" factory. He devoted his free time to his family. He dreamed of having a daughter. During the full-scale war, in February 2023, the man was mobilized into the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He served in the 54th Separate Mechanized Brigade named after Hetman Ivan Mazepa. He held the position of a grenadier. Together with his comrades-in-arms, he defended Donetsk region. Above all, he sought to protect his native country and his loved ones from the war. "My beloved was honest, kind, well-mannered, and fair. He loved life and his Motherland," said Yana Polovko. The military was buried at the Irzhavske cemetery in his hometown. Serhii left behind a wife and two sons.
