Serhii O. Savchyn (Blok)

Senior soldier Serhii Savchyn (call sign Blok) was killed on March 4, 2023, while carrying out a combat mission near the village of Ivanivske in the Donetsk region. The fighter was 25 years old. Serhii was born and lived in Ivano-Frankivsk. He studied at Lyceum No. 16. Then he obtained the profession of a blacksmith at the Higher Vocational School No. 21. He worked at the "Franco Bruk" enterprise, where he first laid paving stones and then engaged in their production. In his free time, he loved to play tennis and volleyball. Since 2019, he has been participating in the Joint Forces Operation in Donbas. During the full-scale Russian invasion, Serhii fought for the independence of Ukraine and its peaceful future in the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He was a fighter of the 80th Separate Airborne Assault Brigade. He unhesitatingly carried out complex combat missions on the front line. "My son was very kind, attentive, brave, and fearless. He was in the hottest spots: Mykolaiv, Voznesensk, liberated the Kharkiv region, Lyman and Bakhmut in the Donetsk region. He had two concussions, but continued to fight. He never complained, said that everything was outstanding and wonderful. He very much wanted to live in a free state," said Svitlana, the adoptive mother of the fallen soldier. The paratrooper was buried on the Alley of Heroes in his hometown. Serhii is survived by his parents, sisters, and brother.
