Serhii O. Shatov

Soldier Serhii Shatov was killed on November 8, 2022 in a battle with the occupiers for the Kherson region. Near the village of Dudchany, the defender received a fatal injury during enemy artillery shelling. Serhii was born in the village of Balabyne, Zaporizhia region. He graduated from school No. 78 in Zaporizhia. He started working on construction sites since 8th grade. Later, he became a painter. He loved his work and had a talent for it. He was also interested in car repair and making things from metal and wood. During the full-scale invasion of Russian occupiers, Serhii joined the ranks of the 60th Separate Mechanized Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine to defend Ukraine. "Serhii was an incredibly positive person. He had a wide circle of friends. He always came to help. He had many dreams that he was unable to realize due to the Russian invasion. He was a reliable support for his family. It was always the first priority for him. He was a beloved husband and a true father to his daughters," said the wife of the deceased, Valentyna. "Serhii performed the greatest feat of a true man - he gave his life for the integrity and independence of Ukraine. His name will be forever inscribed in the history of our community and Ukraine as a Warrior-Hero!" - noted in the Kushuhum community. The serviceman was buried in his native village. Serhii left behind a wife and two daughters.
