Serhii P. Burdak (DVD)

Serhiy Petrovych Burdak was born on June 14, 1981, in the village of Lemeshivka, Yagotin district, Kyiv region. For over 4 years, Chief Sergeant Serhiy Burdak dedicated himself to fulfilling his military duty. The soldier's commitment to the defense of the state border, personal responsibility, determination, and discipline became a model of faithful service to the Ukrainian people and the interests of the state. Since February 24, 2022, Serhiy Burdak stood bravely alongside the servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the special operations regiment of the National Guard of Ukraine "Azov" to defend the state. Starting from March 8, 2022, as part of a combined group, Serhiy Burdak, together with the special operations regiment "Azov," carried out combat missions on the outskirts of the Left Bank district of Mariupol. On March 29, 2022, around 12:30 PM, border guards and servicemen of "Azov" took combat positions in a two-story building. The enemy, having a numerical advantage, attempted to attack the Ukrainian positions, covering themselves with infantry fighting vehicles and armored personnel carriers. During this battle, Chief Sergeant Serhiy Burdak sustained multiple shrapnel wounds. He was taken to a medical point temporarily located on the territory of PJSC "Azovstal," but during the surgical intervention, Serhiy died. For personal courage and selfless actions demonstrated in the defense of the state sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, and loyalty to the military oath, Chief Sergeant Serhiy Petrovych Burdak was posthumously awarded the Order of "For Courage" III degree.
