Serhii P. Chupryna (Chuba)

Sergeant Serhii Chuprina (call sign Chuba) was killed on July 26, 2023, while carrying out a combat mission near the village of Robotyne in the Zaporizhzhia region. The defender was 43 years old. Serhii was born in the city of Vinnytsia. After graduating from secondary school No. 15, he enrolled at Vinnytsia National Technical University, studying at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering. After completing his studies, he served in the army. He worked as an engineer at the "Torg-Tekhnika" company. From childhood, he professionally played handball and was the captain of the Vinnytsia regional handball team. In his free time, he loved fishing and mushroom picking. With the start of the full-scale war, he immediately went to the military enlistment office. At the end of December 2022, he was mobilized into the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He held the position of a grenadier in the 3rd platoon of the 7th company of the 3rd battalion of the 116th separate mechanized brigade. "Serhii was a professional handball player, a loyal friend, and a true patriot of Ukraine," wrote the deceased's friend Yulia Hrymalovska. The defender was buried in the Alley of Glory of the Sabarivske Cemetery in his hometown. Serhii is survived by his mother, brother, and friends.
