Serhii P. Hanzhus (Handzhubas)

39-year-old serviceman Sergiy Ganzhus (call sign Ghandzhubas) was killed on August 12, 2022, near the village of Orli in the Dnipropetrovsk region. Sergiy was born in the village of Velyki Berezhtsi, Ternopil region. After school, he entered the Kremenets Forestry College, where he received the specialty of a forest engineer. He worked in Kremenets in his specialty. Later, he went abroad and worked in the construction industry. Shortly before the start of the full-scale invasion, he returned to Ukraine. On February 24, 2022, Sergiy voluntarily decided to defend his homeland in the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The next day, he signed a contract. And a day later, he went to the front as a driver of a platoon to ensure the reactive artillery division of military unit A0280. In June, the serviceman injured his knee. In Zaporizhzhia, he was operated on, and in just four weeks, he went to the front again. He never returned home. At first, he didn't say anything about the front at all. He started telling a little later, and that's not much. He said that we didn't need to know that. He never complained, saying that he had everything, he didn't need anything. For us, the parents of the deceased, the most important thing is memory, so that there is an understanding that our children did not die in vain, said the warrior's mother. Sergiy was buried on the Maidan of Freedom in Kremenets. The warrior had a mother, brother, wife, son, relatives and friends left behind.
