Serhii P. Shevchuk

Senior soldier Serhii Shevchuk was killed on April 26, 2023, in the Bakhmut direction of Donetsk region. The defender sustained injuries from explosions and shrapnel while performing a combat mission. The soldier was 57 years old. Serhii was born and lived in Lviv. He graduated from the Lviv Film Technical School. Then he served his military service. In peacetime, he held the position of chief engineer at the former Cinematography Administration in Lviv, and later worked as an engineer at a local cinema. He was passionate about technology. With the start of the full-scale war, the man went to the military enlistment office to join the defense of his beloved homeland. He became a serviceman of the 125th separate brigade of the Territorial Defense Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He took part in battles in the Kharkiv and Donetsk regions. During his service, he was awarded the medal "Unbreakable Heroes of the Russian-Ukrainian War" and the second-degree commander's award. "He was everything to us... The best dad and grandfather! He lived for the family, he lived for us and gave his life for us. We owe him everything. Kind, sincere, fair and brave! He never feared anything and in the first days of the war, without hesitation, went to defend Ukraine, saying that he would not leave this war to his grandchildren. He loved them the most! Life for us will never be the same again... I want everyone to know what a Hero he is of my whole life, my Dad!" - said Olena Zabolotna. The warrior was buried at the Lychakiv Cemetery's Marson Field in his native Lviv. At home, Serhii was awaited by his parents, wife, two children, and three grandchildren.
