Serhii P. Stan (Taison)

Senior sailor Serhii Stan (call sign Tyson) was killed on June 24, 2023 in the area of the village of Storozheve in the Donetsk region. The defender received fatal shrapnel wounds while carrying out a combat mission. He was 41 years old. Serhii was born in Chisinau (Moldova). At the age of 3, he moved with his family to the village of Zoloti Prudy in the Donetsk region. There he studied at school. Later he graduated from the Donetsk Cultural and Educational College. He worked in Donetsk, then at the Svyato-Pokrovska mine. He was fond of sports, in particular weightlifting and workout. He participated in competitions. He was engaged in vocals and music, played the guitar and bayan. Before the full-scale war, the man went to serve under contract in the Ukrainian Navy. He served in the 35th separate brigade of the marine corps named after Rear Admiral Mykhailo Ostrohradskyy. From the beginning of the invasion, along with his comrades-in-arms, he continued to fight against the occupiers. He took part in the liberation of the Kherson region, then carried out combat missions near Vuhledar and Avdiivka in the Donetsk region. "Serhii always dreamed of serving in the marine corps, like his uncle. The young man was attracted by military discipline, physical exertion and persistent training, because all this was a way of his life. As Serhii's teachers remember, he was extremely active from childhood: any events or competitions were not without his participation. He was engaged in karate-do, track and field, and weightlifting. He had a good voice and was distinguished by a creative nature. Serhii and his wife were active participants in the life of the village, caring about the problems of others. An athlete, a lover of life, a humorist, a singer and a guitarist, a kind and soulful person - this is how everyone who has ever met Serhii Stan remembers him. He dreamed that his children would live on free land, so that no one could dictate to them how to live in their own country. Serhii put his life as a wall against evil... Serhii is survived by his mother, brother, sister, wife, four children, relatives and many friends.
