Serhii S. Filipovych (Fil)

Senior soldier Serhii Filipovych (call sign Phil) was killed on August 3, 2023 near the settlement of Kurdiumivka in the Donetsk region. While performing his duties, he received fatal injuries during enemy artillery shelling. The fighter would have turned 33 years old exactly a month later. Serhii was born in the village of Try Koptsі in the Rivne region. He studied at the Oleksandriia Lyceum and later graduated from the Kostopil Construction Technical School. He served his compulsory military service in the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He then worked at a local enterprise. During the full-scale war, in May 2022, the man was mobilized into the ranks of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine. Serhii served in the 94th (Chop) border detachment. He held the position of border guard inspector, machine gunner. "Serhii was a brave, courageous, honest and fair warrior, a good brother and a loving beloved for his fiancée. He never hid behind the backs of his comrades, was always the first, a man of his word, an example of indomitability and strength of spirit. He had many plans for life, to start his own family together with his fiancée, but this cursed war took away all the future of our Hero..." - wrote the relatives of the fallen. The border guard was buried in the village of Oleksandriia in the Rivne region. Serhii is survived by his brother, fiancée, loving family, friends and comrades-in-arms.
