Serhii S. Herasymenko (Harbuz)

Sergeant Serhii Herasymenko (call sign Harbuz) was killed on May 21, 2023, in a battle for the city of Bakhmut in the Donetsk region. The soldier received a fatal injury during an enemy tank attack. The defender was 30 years old. Serhii was born in the village of Arbuzynka, Mykolaiv region. In 2007, he graduated from Arbuzynsk Lyceum No. 2. He worked in construction. In his free time, he loved fishing. During the full-scale Russian invasion, the man fought against the occupiers in the ranks of the 5th Separate Assault Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He was a platoon commander. "Serhii was a cheerful person, always smiling and loved to joke. He could lift the mood and was like a younger brother to me. He was very hardworking, always helping his family and friends. This is a great loss for all of us. It is a pain that will remain in our hearts forever," said the deceased's brother-in-law, Yurii. "In our memories, Serhii will always live as a conscientious, kind, and courageous person, a true defender of his native land," the Arbuzynsk Lyceum page noted. The defender was buried in his native village. At home, Serhii was awaited by his mother, sister, wife, relatives, and friends.
