Serhii S. Korolkov

Major Serhii Korolkov was killed on February 6, 2023, while carrying out a combat mission in the Luhansk region. The officer's life was cut short near the village of Ploshchanka. The warrior was 51 years old. Serhii was born in Penza (Russia) in a military family. From childhood, he lived in Nizhyn, Chernihiv region. He studied at the local school No. 15. Then he graduated from the Sumy Higher Military Artillery School. He was a career military serviceman. He rose to the rank of captain and held the position of commander of an anti-tank battery. In 2006, he left the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He lived in Nizhyn and was engaged in car repair. When the full-scale Russian invasion began, the man returned to the army. He served in the 66th Separate Mechanized Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. "He was a man of a cheerful disposition, who showered jokes and charged with optimism. He valued friendship and came to help without hesitation. He loved to fish. He often built or made something for the house," the Nizhyn community noted. "Serhii is remembered as a calm, kind, and sociable guy. The pedagogical, student, and parental collectives of Nizhyn Secondary School I-III Grades No. 15 express their sincere condolences to the relatives and close ones of the fallen Hero, share the grief and pain. The officer was buried in Nizhyn, Chernihiv region.
