- 47-year-old paratrooper Serhii Kovalevych (call sign Google) died on June 13, 2024, in the Cherkasy Regional Hospital. During the performance of a combat mission near the village of Heorhiivka in Donetsk region, he came under enemy mortar fire and suffered severe injuries. The soldier was born in the city of Rivne. After school, he served in the regular military. In civilian life, he worked in carpentry workshops and loved working with wood. He loved to read, reading everywhere, even in the trenches. He was constantly learning new things and had answers to all questions, which is why he got his call sign. Before the full-scale war, Serhii worked in Poland in construction, but after February 24, 2022, he decided to return to his homeland. Later, he joined the defense forces. He served in the 46th separate airmobile brigade of the airborne assault troops of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Until 2023, he was a machine gunner, and after the first injury, he managed to avoid being discharged and took the position of an electronic warfare operator. During his service, he received the awards "For Wounds" and "For the Defense of Ukraine." "Dad was an interesting person. It seems he knew and could do everything. He was interested in learning new things and learning new things. He was the soul of every company, the main joker and prankster. Such a cheerful and sunny person who gave up everything and went to defend the country. An interesting fact: he was a carpenter and did not have a single whole finger, most of them were without the upper phalanx. And he was a machine gunner until he was wounded. And not just a machine gunner, but a very cool one. Because nothing could stop him if he saw the goal and had the desire," the deceased's daughter said. Serhii was buried in the "Nove" cemetery in Rivne. The defender left behind his wife Zhanna, daughter Anastasia, and son Pavlo.Memory Platform 'Memorial'
