Serhii S. Nedria (Kometa)

Senior Soldier Serhii Nedria (call sign Comet) was killed on July 3, 2023 in battle with the occupiers near the city of Kreminna in the Luhansk region. While repelling the enemy's attack, he received a fatal wound as a result of a hostile shell hitting the dugout. On July 16, the defender would have turned 26 years old. Serhii was born in the village of Marianske, Dnipropetrovsk region. He graduated from the Nikopol Vocational Education Center No. 34, obtaining the profession of an electric gas welder-rigger. In 2018-2019, he fought in the Joint Forces Operation in Donbas as part of the Special Operations Forces. Since 2021, he had been working in his profession at the INTERPIPE NIKO TUBE company. In his free time, he loved fishing. After the start of the full-scale invasion, on February 26, 2022, Serhii volunteered to defend Ukraine. He fought in the ranks of the 16th Regiment of the Public Order Protection of the National Guard of Ukraine. He was a gunner-operator. "This is an incredible, incomprehensible, catastrophic loss. The loss of a true person, an exemplary citizen of his country. The news of his death shocked our whole family. For some time, we did not believe it, we had hope that he was alive. We will remember your voice, your laughter, your warm and strong hugs... We miss you very much. There was still so much you wanted to do. And we wanted to have a great time at your wedding, to see your children. You are the most worthy person! What, tell me, was your guilt that they killed you so young?! He flies home as an Angel. He became a Hero - Heroes do not die! Parents grayed from tears and grief, none of us can come to terms with it. Parents visit your grave every day. There is no strength to hide our tears. God forbid us to see our brothers and sons in a coffin leaving home. It is wrong when parents bury their children..." - wrote the deceased's sister Olha. The National Guard soldier was buried in his native village. At home, he was awaited by his mother Nataliia, father Serhii, and older sisters Olha and Nataliia. Serhii did not have time to start his own family, which he had dreamed of.
