Serhii S. Olieinikov (Kaptor)

Sergeant Serhii Oleinikov (call sign Kaptior) was killed on May 11, 2023 near the village of Ivanivske in the Donetsk region. During the performance of a combat mission, he sustained shrapnel wounds as a result of enemy shelling. His death was instantaneous. The following month, on June 2, he would have turned 21 years old. Serhii was from the city of Oleksandriia in the Kirovohrad region. He studied at the local secondary school No. 15. He then obtained the profession of an automotive mechanic at the Oleksandriia Vocational Agricultural Lyceum. He was involved in sports and was passionate about boxing. In 2020, he was drafted for military service. In 2023, he signed a contract with the Armed Forces of Ukraine and went to defend his native land. He held the position of a crew member in the 80th separate air assault Galician brigade. Together with his comrades-in-arms, he defended the Donetsk region. "Serhii was always open and honest in communication. He sincerely rejoiced in the achievements of his loved ones. He was a reliable friend who was always ready to help. After the war, he wanted to travel and had many plans for the life that ended too quickly," said the deceased's loved ones. The young hero was buried in the Cherkasy region, where his relatives live. Serhii is survived by his mother, younger brother, girlfriend, loving family, friends, and comrades-in-arms. Posthumously, soldier Serhii Oleinikov was awarded the Order of Courage of the III degree.
