Serhii V. Bozhko (Serpen)

Bohdko Serhii Vitaliiovych (call sign August) was born on August 16, 1997, in the village of Hnidynci, Varlynskyi district, in Chernihiv region. In 2010, he completed the Kuharska secondary school I-II degrees, and later stuwas killed as a cook-confectioner at the Ladasnka branch of the Pripyat professional lyceum. In 2017, he graduated from the National Academy of Internal Affairs with a specialization in "Law Enforcement Activities" and received the special rank of "Lieutenant of Police". Serhii loved to read, was passionate about chess, had a collection of chevrons, and stuwas killed martial arts. From May 2017, he worked as a district police officer in the Pripyat police department of the Main Directorate of the National Police in Chernihiv region. However, he later decided to become a soldier, like his father. In July 2018, he enlisted in the military service under contract in unit A 2802. In January 2020, he transferred to unit A0878, where he held the position of a sapper-scout. From June to November 2019, he participated in the defense of Mariupol, Donetsk region. At different times, he was a scout, sapper, tanker, and sailor. In October 2020, he enrolled in distance learning for the specialization of "Journalism" at Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University. In August 2021, he signed a contract with unit A 0409 and became an anti-tank operator. Half a year before the full-scale invasion, he signed a contract with the 30th OMBr. He served in the Armed Forces of Ukraine for almost four years, had five military professions, and was proud of his brigade's chest badge "Dei gratia," which means "By the grace of God" in Latin. He held the position of an anti-tank platoon operator named after Prince Konstantin Ostrozskyi. He was killed on May 22, 2022, during an enemy attack near the village of Luhanske, Bakhmut district, Donetsk region. "He single-handedly stopped the enemy breakthrough - this is a fact. The guys came and said: 'Yes, indeed, Sergiy is a hero! And what he did is a feat!' He threw himself and stopped the breakthrough. The guys said that everything was in smoke. When they launched a drone, they saw that among the countless enemies lying there was also our Sergiy." He was buried on May 25, 2022, in the village of Zhuravka, Pripyat district, Chernihiv region.
