Serhii V. Chebanov (Shatun)

Sergeant Serhii Chebanov (call sign Shatun) was killed on March 27, 2022, while carrying out a combat mission near the village of Olenivka in the Mykolaiv region. He sustained fatal injuries during an artillery barrage. The defender was forever 29 years old. Serhii was born in the village of Oleksandrivka, Kirovohrad region. He lived with his family in the village of Pishchanyi Brid. He graduated from the Smolinska Evening School. He then obtained the profession of a rigger at the Kyiv Vocational School. In civilian life, he worked as a driver. Since 2016, he has been participating in the ATO, and a year later he signed a contract with military unit 3018 and continued to defend the Motherland. Later, he returned to peaceful life. With the start of the full-scale invasion, the man took up arms again and went to the front. Serhii served in the 59th Separate Motorized Infantry Brigade named after Yakov Handziuk. He held the position of tank battalion mechanic-driver. "The best son. I am proud of him. According to his comrades-in-arms, Serhii was a true warrior, brave and experienced, a faithful comrade. He fiercely hated the enemy and knew no fear of them. At any moment, he was ready to carry out the order and share the last with his comrades-in-arms," wrote the mother of the fallen. Serhii was buried in the village of Pishchanyi Brid, Kirovohrad region. He is survived by his parents, wife, three children, brother, and sister. The warrior was posthumously awarded the Order of Courage of the III degree.
