- Captain Serhii Chesnyk (call sign Malysh) was killed on November 18, 2022 near the city of Krasnohorivka in the Donetsk region. When the Ukrainian military were going to evacuate a wounded soldier, their vehicle hit a mine and exploded. The officer burned alive. On November 7, the defender turned 56 years old. Serhii was born and lived in the village of Hlukhivtsi, Vinnytsia region. After finishing school, he obtained the profession of an electrician at a vocational school. He worked in his specialty, was well-versed in his work. He was engaged in agriculture, loved technology. Later he went to military service. In 8 years he rose to the rank of captain. From the first days of the full-scale invasion, the man conducted physical training for all those who wished. Later he joined the ranks of the 38th separate infantry battalion of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. There he continued to train his comrades-in-arms. In May, he was already at the front line. He held the position of company commander and fought together with his subordinates on the first line. He received several concussions, but each time he wanted to return to the war as soon as possible. "Our father was a man with a capital letter, he always helped us. The father treated everyone with respect. Loved to engage in agriculture. With his own hands he built a house, a garage and all the outbuildings. Loved technology. He raised two sons, had a grandson. All the comrades-in-arms who fought with him spoke only well of him, told how courageous a commander he was. Saved lives. He received two concussions, lost hearing in one ear. He was 56 years old, and 10 days later he was killed. This was supposed to be his last outing, after which he wanted to come on vacation, but he couldn't. Everyone misses his support, his advice, without him our hands drop," said the younger son of the officer, Yevhen. The brave warrior was buried in his native village.
