Serhii V. Desna (Etalon, Skif)

41-year-old Sergeant Serhii Desna (call sign Skif) was killed on May 14, 2024 near the settlement of Novoselivske in the Luhansk region. The fighter defended the positions from the enemy and helped evacuate wounded comrades. His car came under enemy artillery fire. Serhii was born in the village of Chornomorivka, Kherson region. He graduated from the Kherson Institute of Economics and Law. He was married and lived with his family in Melitopol, Zaporizhzhia region. He worked in the Eldorado electronics store. He dedicated his free time to his family. During the full-scale invasion, the family found themselves in occupation. In the summer of 2022, Serhii was able to evacuate his relatives to the Kyiv region, and he himself went to the military enlistment office. He wanted to liberate his home from the enemy. He was assigned to the 77th separate airmobile brigade of the Air Assault Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He held the position of commander of the anti-aircraft missile platoon. The defender was awarded the medal "For Participation in the Battles of the Bakhmut Frontier" and the Order of Courage of the III degree (posthumously). "Serhii was an incorrigible optimist, a patriot, and always took pride in defending his native land. He had great respect among his comrades-in-arms and the command. This is an irreparable loss for his family and friends," his wife shared. The paratrooper was buried in the Alley of Glory cemetery in the city of Irpin. Serhii is survived by his wife Natalia and daughter Anastasia.
